As one of the best-selling horse oil skincare brands in Japan, Lishan differentiates themselves by using horse placenta extracted from the origins of the oil itself, in Hokkaido. HOKKAIDO HORSE OIL SKINCARE
Before gaining popularity as a beauty product, horse oil was used as a folk medicine in the days of ancient China. Believed to be a miracle oil, horse oil was supposedly first brought to Japan over 1,000 years ago and due to its effectiveness as a moisturizing agent and anti-irritant, horse oil became especially popular in Hokkaido, as it protects the skin from the region's harsh, cold and dry climate. The vast expanse of land in Hokkaido also made it easy to farm horses.
Originating from and dominating the whole Hokkaido beauty scene, Lishan's Horse Oil Skin Cream is the original, trusted and one of the most popular horse oil product in Japan.
IS IT REALLY MADE FROM HORSES?
By its name, it's easy to guess that this wonder beauty product is derived from horses, specifically from the fat of the horse that contains an essential fatty acid called linolenic acid which contains anti-inflammatory properties and can help maintain, repair the skin.
It is however, important to note that horses are not farmed entirely for this purpose of beauty! Horse fat in general, is a relatively small amount per animal which makes it too expensive to farm horses just purely for its oil. Horse meat on the other hand, is in fact, widely consumed in Japan and its oil is actually a waste product from this process, resulting in all parts of the animal being used.
